Passion, Pain, Pleasure Tour (Cincinnati, OH – Sept. 2nd, 2010)
Recently I received the opportunity to go to the “Passion, Pain, Pleasure” Tour in Cincinnati, OH. Who wouldn’t want to see such an amazing line-up? Trey Songz, Monica, Dondria: AMAZING. I had to check it out for myself. The concert began with the new and lovely Dondira. Such an amazing and beautiful voice. Although she didn’t sing as many songs as we’d have liked, she rocked the stage. Singing her hit singles, “Shawty Wats Up” and “You’re The One” Dondria made it clear that she loves her fans and wants them to be involved. Long after the music stopped, she interacted with her fans, and had them continue singing, “You’re The One” with her. The only “flaw” I can see with her act, is that it wasn’t long enough! Her fans wanted more!
As Dondria exited the stage and the lights came back on… The anticipation and anxiousness of the crowd rose. An all male band took the stage and got themselves situated… Monica would soon be out… As Monica took the stage the crowd went wild!!! She’s been a fan favorite for YEARS! Later on she stated that she had been doing this with the support of her fans for 16 total years! As Monica began her set, she wanted to kick it off old school. As she began singing her hit from 1995 “Don’t Take It Personal” the crowd roared and began singing along. She wanted to show love to all of her fans who had been with her since the beginning. She continued with “Angel Of Mine” and one of my ALL TIME FAVORITES, “So Gone”. Monica paid tribute to Ms. Whitney Houston, proclaiming, “That’s my girl”. She sang Houston’s hit song “Don’t Walk Away From Me”. The crowd enjoyed the tribute, and showed their own love and appreciation by joining in. With her new album, Still Standing, that was released March 19th, 2010, Monica
sang two of her biggest hits: “Still Standing” and “Everything To Me”. With these two songs, it’s like a whole new Monica. New sound, new voice, new passion. She explained to her fans that this new album was in response to her new and true found love. As she wrapped up her portion of the show, she proclaimed that “Everything To Me” was dedicated to all of her loyal fans.
But of course the show didn’t end there. The stage crew moved swiftly to the stage to get ready for the next set. That of Trey Songz! The crowd prematurely screamed loudly for Trey, hoping for just a tiny glance of him before his set began. In just a few short minutes, the lights dimmed, the music started back up, and our “Trey Day” experience was about to begin. As Trey began to sang, the roar was so loud you couldn’t really even hear the music flowing or the song flowing out of his mouth! I have been to several concerts, and I don’t think I have ever heard a roar like that. With his sexy, sleek style, no one was able to keep their eyes off of the show!
Trey’s set was for the grown and sexy. I must say, this was a Rated R performance. He started in a calm manner with songs like, “Can’t Help But Wait”. However, the show turned very sexual. He began to ask which of the ladies wanted to go on a trip with him. Where do you wanna go? Let’s go to Jupiter. With that intro, came his song “Jupiter Love” from his album, “Ready”. He then asked which one of the ladies wanted to come on stage for a back massage. The ladies did about everything they could to be the chosen one for such an amazing experience. In fact, a girl in front of me LITERALLY started taking off her clothes. Trey went backstage, got a massage chair and massage oil and came back to make his selection. One girl would have a night to remember! As he made his selection and a fan made her way to the stage her legs were trembling! She couldn’t contain herself. He put her in the massage chair, got out the oil and began rubbing her down while whispering in her ear, and what appeared to be kissing on her neck! Lucky girl! I don’t know that I would have been able to contain myself! He then told her “I want to finish what I started” and asked the young lady to go back stage and wait for him in a room backstage until after the concert.
Trey promoted his new album which will release on September 14th, 2010 which includes songs such as, “Bottoms Up” featuring Nicki Minaj, a bedroom hit “Massage” and “Love Faces” which describes the faces made during love making with Trey. Trey really got on point with the ladies. His female fans are obviously and truly and inspiration and key to his music and performances. He asked each lady to pretend that it was just them and him, on a date. He said, “Consider this our first date”. He really knows how to get the ladies to melt. At the close of the show (and Trey still surprisingly fully clothed) he shared some love with the fans and expressed his appreciation and gratitude with his fans. With the crowd still screaming, BEGGING him to take his clothes off, he finally took off his shirt. After wiping the sweat from his body and even pulling out his pants and wiping below the belt, Trey balled up his shirt and threw it into the crowd. A gift one lucky fan will surely treasure. With that, he made his exit, and Cincinnati’s dose of Passion, Pain, Pleasure came to an end. A concert the city of Cincinnati will surely remember.
