Was Jackson Honored The Right Way?

Michael Jackson is considered the greatest music talent that ever lived by many. Jackson has experienced the success that most artists can only dream about. MJ is known for his superb performances and for having a series of songs to become number one hits. Reminiscing about his accomplishments and the impact he had on music, it bothers me to see how he has been disrespected after his death.

I have read news stories and watched the news and I become extremely upset. The main thing that frustrates me is that no one can seem to do a news story on just the positive things about him. Every time someone covers a story they include something negative. Many of the stories I read talked about the child molestation charges. I feel like that is inappropriate to put in a news piece that is about his death especially, considering the number of people who are great fans of his and do not believe the accusation.

MJ was proven innocent of that so, I don’t understand why it is included in every news piece especially after he just passed. They have been several other artists in the past with very serious accusations against them, but it is not included in their biography. For instance, it was said that Ludwig Van Beethoveen won custody of his nephew and molested him for many years. However, that is not included in his biography. Another thing that bothers me is that many of the people who participated in the BET award show did not honor him in the way that he deserves.

I am very disappointed in one of my own personal favorites. It has been said that Beyonce was asked to perform an upbeat song to open the show and she refused. Beyonce apparently would not perform unless she could do, “I’ll be There.” She ended up performing a gospel song in a swim suit later in the show. This upset me, because I feel like she should have been thrilled they asked her to open up the show in honor of MJ. I felt like she and everyone else that participated should have done all they could have done to make the show better and pay respects.

I was also disgusted with the way Jay Z behaved. It was discussed after the show that he refused to perform if they allowed Chris Brown to do a performance in honor of Michael. This to me was very petty considering one of the greatest performers of all time had just died. I feel like since Chris Brown was very much influenced by Jackson no one should have took that right away from him. I have the most respect for Jay-Z, but what he did was immature and inexcusable behavior for a man of his age. I understand he does not like Chris Brown b/c of the incident with Rihanna(the women Jay-Z has been rumored to have an affair with) but I feel like Jay Z needs to let it go. I feel like Jay Z’s behavior was disrespectful to Beyonce considering the rumors that surrounded him and Rihanna.

Last, but not least, Jamie Fox went ridiculously over board as far as hosting the show. I felt like he had done one joke too many, for goodness sake his family is watching the show. Fox did too much joking and he also contributed to spoiling the show. Michael Jackson is a bigger star than everyone who participated in the award show put together and it pains me that they didn’t do a better job. Michael Jackson is the greatest star ever with fans all over the globe. It is sad that a man with so many accomplishments has not been respected in the greatest way possible.
