Mayweather Sr. Not Holding His Tongue!

Anyone who follows boxing and knows the name Mayweather know one thing, a Mayweather does not hold their tongue for anybody or anything. That was the case this past week when Floyd Sr. was asked about pound-for-pound kingpin Manny Pacquiao, the man many believe can give his son his first professional defeat. Among the things that Floyd Sr. said was that Pacquiao was a “fag” and “little sissy, little girl.” He continued on to say that there was a book “with the 20 biggest bitches in sports” and claimed that Pacquiao was number one in the book. As the interview ended Floyd Sr. continued to rant on about how scared Pacquiao was to fight his son Floyd Jr. and that he did not deserve the same amount of money for the fight as his son did.

Last week it was revealed that Manny Pacquiao will be fighting on November 13, but not against Floyd Mayweather Jr. in a possible “Fight of the Century” instead it will be against the disgraced former welterweight champion Antonio Margarito a favorite of Top Rank boss Bob Arum who promotes both Margarito and Pacquiao. Currently, Margarito is not licensed to fight in the U.S. after he was caught with illegal hand wraps prior to his fight with Sugar Shane Mosley in January of 2009 and was then suspended. His current appeal to the Nevada State Athletic Commission is being tabled until he answers to authorities in California, the site of the Mosley fight. Arum has stated that many states have contacted him about giving Margarito a license to fight, however if Margarito can not receive a boxing license in the states that could push the fight to Margarito’s native country of Mexico and make a fight that would already be difficult to sell even more difficult to sell. The fight is schedule to take place in the junior middleweight division at a catchweight of 150 pounds and the WBC junior middleweight title that Sergio Martinez vacated earlier this year will likely be at stake.

As for Pretty Boy Floyd Mayweather Jr. it appears that it is unlikely that he will fight again this year. Mayweather stated "I'm not interested in rushing to do anything” when asked about the fight with Pacquiao. He also said "I'm not really thinking about boxing right now," I'm just relaxing. I fought about 60 days ago, so I'm just enjoying myself, enjoying life, enjoying my family and enjoying my vacation." Does not sound like a man in a rush to get back in the ring. The Mayweather camp claimed that talks about the fight never took place however HBO Sports president Ross Greenburg claimed to have been in talks with both sides since after Mayweather’s victory over Shane Mosley in May. While Arum said the contract was done and all Floyd had to do was sign it, however a deadline for the deal passed without a word from the Mayweather camp. Another fact that may be pushing Mayweather away from the fight is the upcoming trial of his trainer/uncle on battery charges and could face jail time if convicted and it is likely that he would not want to go into the biggest fight in his life without the most important person in his corner unavailable.
