At the age of 9, Triumph knew that he wanted to be an artist. Born on the Eastern Shores of Virginia and raised in Newport News, Triumph fell in love with R&B and Jazz. With a desire to write short stories, poetry and then music, he began his journey as an artist.
With his first pushed Solo track, “Wish You Well”, comes with a story of his start as a solo artist: “I started in a group called 50/50. We were on the radio, doing shows, we even opened up for Chris Brown in 2006. After that, we just knew our careers were going to take off…. The group split and I began my solo career.” Due to some disagreements between management and producers, the group split. “I wanted to respond in a positive. I wanted to let them know I wished them well.”
Signed and still working with EntaPrize Entertainment, LLC, Triumph has created his own name and brand: “You don’t have to be a stereotypical person to make good music and relate to people. I’ve done things that I’m not proud of but I don’t have to glorify that. I think everybody has a story. I think that we had a few more positive role models our generation would be more positive.”
“I’m never gonna glorify my negative past.” Believing that we can help and change our generation, Triumph believes in sending out a positive message to people. “It’s not about who sells the most drugs or shoots the most dudes. I don’t wanna hear music that I can’t relate to. I don’t wanna try to follow a script that these other entertainers have just to sell a record.”
Triumph doesn’t want to just stick with the rap game. He has a strong desire and hunger to embark in different talents. “I want to create a multi-taskful brand. I want expand into acting, writing, directing, fashion and embark in entertainment as a whole.” He really wants to be a jack of all trades. “I’ve always been called a Renaissance man and been good with multi-tasking”
“One thing that people need to know is the day I fell in love with music, I was no older than 5 or 6 years old. The song by Lisa Fisher titled “How Can I Ease the Pain”. I’d be dead asleep and I would wake up and sing all the words, and then fall back asleep. When I’m not in my entertainment role I am a homebody and love to spend time with my family.”
Currently he is working on his first album, “Boiling Point”, which he is hoping to have released in November of 2010. His main focus of that album at this point is 2 singles; “Wish You Well” and “That’s My Jam” feat. Munee. “I wanna give a shout out to Crossed Over Entertainment and Q the Question who together have helped get Wish You Well swung in the right direction.”
Triumph is also competing for a spot in the Fame Tour, which if he wins, he will tour the United Kingdom Aside from that he will be involved in a concert at Princess Anne High School in Virginia Beach on September 12th sponsored by Z-104 radio! for 3 weeks!
