Building a great following and known for his affiliation with DJ Drama and the Aphilliates, rhyme-slayer Willie The Kid is continuing to hit the streets and the internet heavy. Getting down with up and coming producer Lee Bannon the two get down for a new EP titled “Never A Dull Moment”. Giving you seven solid raw and gritty tracks, this EP is something good for the hip-hop years that love thumping beats and catchy rhymes. Giving you a quick dose of the great chemistry with Lee Bannon and WTK, “News Flash” is the appetizer to fulfill your request for good hip-hop. Willie goes hard on “News Flash” speaking on some incidents about locals from his hood that had a future until they went the wrong route. From one kid that could’ve went to college to another that had to make an example out some students by pulling the 38’, this story is good. It shows the skills of Willie’s ability to tell stories and much credit to Lee Bannon handing him the right production. Moving on to “MI40 Weighs A Ton” is a lyrical gem-infested track where Willie puts his skills to the test once again. While the track is about two minutes, it was good to show that some artist can out some dope rhymes together in such little time. As a hip-hop fan this is great and manifesting lyrics heard from a kid like Willie that can spit makes you appreciate his craft. The thing that brings out “Never A Dull Moment” is the teamwork between Willie the Kid Lee Bannon. These two know what’s best for each other and was never off point the whole project. The rhymes flowed with the beat and the beat flowed with the rhymes. The record “Necessary Way” Ft. La Da Darkman is one of the sickest records on the EP. With the old school sample in the cuts nothing like a creative street life tell which “Necessary Way” provides. “Bath Water Running” and “Hickory Smoke” gains interest as well. Lee Bannon through the project provides some smooth tunes on this project and these two records exemplify that. Yes, the beats were hot and Willie delivered as well with tight rhymes which is always important. As a fan of Willie and now Lee Bannon's, with them providing such a quality EP makes me wonder, this is only the beginning of something good. |
