The Dream is one of the most gifted artists that are relevant at this moment in history. His style is so incredible that it would be almost impossible for The Dream to release a worthless album. This album by dream in no exception, "The Love King," is an excellent body of music and art work and it truly defines what it means to be an artist as oppose to just another r&b singer.
There is a variety of likable tracks on this album but certain tracks are just on another level. F.I.L.A is a hit and from the very beginning of the track to the end of the track the song is enjoyable. The lyrics on the hook, "Can you make me fall in love again," are perfect for capturing both a female and male audience because just about everyone has wants to witness love at some point. The melody and the verses were superb on this track and it sounds like it would be huge on the radio. Yamaha is by far the most impressive song on the album because of a combination of many key factors. The Dreams flaunts his talent and artistic capabilities as a vocalist and song writer on this track. The words, the beat and the overall old school flavor on this one is incredible. It almost sounds like a song that Prince would make just as some of his songs in the past did. The track Break You Down is most notable because of The Dream's excellent vocals, he sings with great emotion in his voice and it wins listeners over as soon as he starts to sing.
Throughout the album their are a few other admirable records. All Turned Out is one of The Dream's very sexual songs, accompanied by a very soft vocals and a extra smooth melody this track is definitely a certified hit. At times, The Dream's vocals were slightly to high but it was impossible the ruin this particular track. Florida Unversity a catchy and at the same time laughable song with lyrics like, "I was the realest thing you ever known and I couldn't wait to say I told you so. So, forget you ever heard of me. This is short for Florida University," this song is favorable. With the abbreviation, "F.U.," being repeated constantly on the hook it makes the song so catchy and of course everyone in the world can relate to this track because there has to be someone that makes you want to scream, "F. U.!" in their face. This song would more than likely gain the attention of a female audience with the lyrics,"If you get tired of faking it call me, " and with sexually explicit lyrics Panties to the Side is a pretty good track. Both versions of the track Love King are hits. The original version of the track is a perfect and it was great for a single. The remix Featuring Ludacris is definitely a potential radio killer, Ludacris did his thing but you can't really expect nothing less than the best from Luda. Also, Veteran sounds like it would be a great radio hit if it were a single.
Neither version of the song Sex Intelligent really caught my attention. However, it's possible for an audience of only males to like the track because The Dream spends most of the song bragging about his sex skills as most men love to do. The remix to the song is a little better than the original version but neither of them are good examples of what The Dream is capable of as far as his artistic nature. Speaking of his artistic nature,The Dream could have been more creative when developing the song February. The lyrics to this song should have been more in line with the theme, similar to what Boys II Men on the song 4 Seasons of Loneliness. Abyss is again another track that most men or maybe Tiger Woods would enjoy because it's the story of a girl who has a fling and runs to the media about it. It wasn't too good of a track but I can imagine many can relate to it.
As a whole, "Love King," is a remarkable album. The Dream is a very talented artist and it shows every time he releases an album. Artists like him are very rare but when you hear his songs you know right off hand how talented he is. The Dream is what most artists in music entertainment would never be even in their dreams and it shows on this album.
